Marlborough Lines (MLL) today announced the donation of a 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric Vehicle (EV) to the Marlborough Community Vehicle Trust (MCVT) at a handover ceremony held in Blenheim.
This pre-owned EV, previously part of the MLL fleet, will be a valuable addition to the MCVT’s resources, supporting their mission to provide affordable transportation services to Marlborough residents facing challenges in accessing medical appointments within the Nelson Marlborough Region.
“The Marlborough Community Vehicle Trust provides an essential service to our community,” said Tim Cosgrove, Chief Executive Officer at Marlborough Lines. “We are delighted to be able to support the Trust’s work by donating this electric vehicle. This aligns perfectly with MLL’s sponsorship criteria of supporting community-oriented initiatives, and
the environmentally friendly nature of the vehicle further reflects our commitment to sustainability.”
The MCVT relies on donations and volunteers to ensure residents have reliable transportation to essential medical appointments. This new EV will contribute significantly to their ability to continue offering this vital service.
MCVT Chairman, Quentin Doig, said “MLL’s generous donation enhances the Trust’s commitment to provide a sustainable service, particularly with regard to reducing our carbon footprint. The Kona EV will join two hybrid vehicles that are already owned by the Trust. We are proud and very grateful to welcome MLL as one of our Platinum Sponsors”.
